Metabolic Health

The Microbiome Holds the Key

What is Metabolic Health?

Clinically speaking, metabolic health is defined by optimal levels of key markers that are indicative of overall well-being.

  1. Blood sugar

  2. Triglycerides and other blood lipids (hyperlipidemia)

  3. Body Condition Score Learn More

  4. Age appropriate energy levels

These markers can often be maintained without the use of medication, emphasizing the significance of natural and holistic approaches to metabolic wellness for your pet.

Only a licensed veterinarian can diagnose metabolic disorders like diabetes, chronic diarrhea, metabolic syndrome, or other diseases. However, early awareness of risks are important—especially in at-risk pets.  If your pet has been diagnosed with obesity, high blood sugar, chronic enteropathy, or another metabolic condition, Pawsni™ may be helpful when used alongside your veterinarian’s recommended interventions. Below are a few risk factors and signs that may suggest a metabolic imbalance to bring to your veterinarian’s attention.

  • Rapid increase or decrease in weight

  • Chronic diarrhea

  • Increased appetite but losing weight

  • Increased urination

  • Increased consumption of water

  • Decreased activity and energy

“Pawsni Metabolic Health is the only product in the world derived from the probiotic F. prausnitzii, which is one of the most important commensal bacteria in the microbiomes of all animals. I am excited to be part of the Pawsni product research team.”

Metabolic Health Starts with the Gut

What is the Gut Microbiome?
The gut microbiome is a collection of hundreds of billions of beneficial and harmful bacteria and other microbes that reside in an animal’s digestive tract where they work to keep our pets (and their humans) alive. These microbes are in a continuous and complex battle with each other. An overgrowth of harmful bacteria (dysbiosis) has been linked to many clinical conditions ranging from intermittent diarrhea to more serious metabolic conditions like pancreatitis and diabetes.

F. prausnitzii is one of the “good bacteria” or “probiotics” and is used to create the primary active ingredients in Pawsni. There is an abundance of research linking it to healthy metabolism. Publications.
